the purifier

Beautiful hotel with bursting purple accents. La Purificadora Hotel, located in the oldest part of the historic center of Puebla, Mexico, was converted from colonial structure from the 1800s, when the hotel used to be an ice factory. Love the aquarium-like swimming pool and the glass clothing space is not too shabby either!

ultra-sleek for bach

If you don't already know who Zaha Hadid is, it's time to get acquainted. This Iraqi-born, British-based postmodern architect is the first woman to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize (equivalent to the Nobel Prize). Most fashionably recognized for the Mobile Art Pavilion for Chanel that pays tribute to the iconic 2.55 bag, she has recently collaborated with Manchester International Festival and Manchester Art Gallery to design a "near-perfect visual and sonic environment" concert hall for the 2009 Festival. With a capacity of 200 people, the intimate and sexy chamber is set to host nine concerts, in which three internationally acclaimed musicians will perform Bach's solo instrumental works. Hadid is one superwoman!

money doesn't grow on trees

They say money doesn't grow on trees, but in Kaunas, Lithuania it apparently grows on buildings.  The image of LTL 1000 banknote is evident in this 10-storey building, thanks to a special ceramic print. Consisted of 4,500 pieces of glass with enamel designs, it is touted locally as one of the "most daring and original construction projects". Impressive, I'll say.

cotton candy splendor

One look at the magnificent view of W Hotel's rooftop pool in Hong Kong and I get butterflies. Absolutely breathtaking, it features a gorgeous nature-infused mosaic created by Australian designer Fabio Ongarato. The new W Hotel offers a dazzling sensory experience --- an elegant, East-meets-West harmony and balance --- thanks to Australian interior designer Nicholas Graham and Japanese designer Yasumichi Morita.
