style muse: dree hemingway

Dree Hemingway, daughter of actress Mariel Hemingway and great-granddaughter of literary icon Ernest Hemingway is quickly becoming the next new name on everyone's lips including mine. From rocking the blazer trend to peeptoe boots, her effortless chic style is all to love. This former ballerina-turned-model credits her style to an accent piece and confessed to being like the most of us: shoe-crazy.

beyond bullets

Designed by New York-based Shannon De Jong, these bullet beauties are part of her Tex Astali collection that transform tough and dangerous found materials like bullet casings into a jewelry art piece. Her jewelry line, Astali, was launched in 2008.

karl on losing weight

When the Kaiser speaks, the whole (fashion) world listens. Well, almost. Often thrown in the "hot seat" for speaking his mind, Karl Lagerfeld delivered another one on weight and fashion. Personally, I wouldn't say fashion is the healthiest, but it can be a great motivation for some. Chanel x McDonalds, are you lovin' it?

featherlite fantasy

It doesn't help working directly opposite an optical store that sells Dita eyewear (a rare commodity in this country). In a span of one year, I've bought two of them (Lotus and Targa). Now, it seems their latest Featherlite collection may just cause a commotion in my wallet. Available in four different styles - Avocet, Sunbeam, Osprey and Heron - each model features a super light titanium frame.

Visit DitaLegends.com for more info.

designer codes

Say goodbye to the bland black-and-white codes and hello to colorful, pictorial codes that could very well be the next type of collectibles (like stamps!). Tokyo-based design agency SET has collaborated with Takashi Murakami and Louis Vuitton for a remake of the QR code (Quick Response Code), a faster matrix code for ringing up and tracking merchandise.

haunted by 36 women

The 'Haunted by 36 Women' exhibition is based on the archetypical perceptions of a woman: the femme fatale, the girl-next-door, the suffragatte, the fashionista and so on. 'Fashionista in Pink' (necklace pictured above) is one among other Ted Noten's creations - that combined all 3 domains: design, visual and applied arts - currently displayed at The Galerie Rob Koudjis in Amsterdam.

star-studded crush

Isabel Marant got me fixated over her suede chain boots from the SS09 collection (very DIY, by the way), but this time around her boots (both over-the-knee and studded) and her python/leopard-printed everything from the FW09 collection has caught my eye in lust once again. It isn't just the fact that she makes clothes (and shoes) that any girl wants to wear, it's the effortless chic and rock-and-roll aesthetic that she instilled in her collection that makes it more enticing. Oh, and if any label's got Daria Werbowy as their "face", you know they've hit the right spot!

money doesn't grow on trees

They say money doesn't grow on trees, but in Kaunas, Lithuania it apparently grows on buildings.  The image of LTL 1000 banknote is evident in this 10-storey building, thanks to a special ceramic print. Consisted of 4,500 pieces of glass with enamel designs, it is touted locally as one of the "most daring and original construction projects". Impressive, I'll say.

bag lady

Some of my favorites from Paris Fashion Week: Stella McCartney's quilted clutch is a funky gem and love, love, love how the chains of Ungaro's handbag doubles up as layered bracelets. Lanvin's exotic nude tote is timeless and Kenzo's mixed media carryall would make a cheerful wardrobe piece. Let's not forget Valentino's slouchy beauty (love the color!) and the suede Birkin, which apparently has no visible hardware. Does that mean they cost less too? Name your favorite.

street style: feeling dressy

New York: Dreamy is the word to describe that Robert Rodriguez mermaid dress... she's floating! While the oh-so-simple jersey black dress is perfectly dressed up with edgy peep-toe lace up boots (is that Natasha Poly?) These two are divine and rock n roll.
