electric feel

These ingenious lightbulb shoes from Chanel are cool as hell. Worn by Leigh Lezark. I'm off for a buying trip in a couple of hours 'til late Wednesday. Promise to be back with more goodies.

heroine

That face, that hair, that body, those eyes. Perfection. Photographed by Mariano Vivanco for the latest issue of Numéro Korea, glamour puss Jessica Stam shows us why she’s at the top of her game.

break the rules

Mixing is the message this season at DKNY Jeans. So if you're cooler than the usual mob, flaunt what your mama gave you and you could win US$2000. Or be the judge of who rocks their looks best, vote and win US$300 weekly. The DKNY Break The Rules contest is open to individuals aged 18 years and above, anywhere in the world. Simply snap a photo of yourself in your most fearless denim look (not necessarily wearing DKNY Jeans), submit it here, and ask your friends to vote for you. Top 3 voted looks at the end of the campaign will win US$2000 each!

Exclusive treats if you're in Malaysia: Purchase any item from DKNY Jeans (Highstreet 1 Utama or Isetan Suria KLCC) and take a picture in store (to be uploaded online by DKNY Jeans Malaysia on your behalf) and be rewarded with a RM50 voucher. 3 entries with the best style shot will each win a RM500 voucher.

You've got a couple of weeks left until the deadline, October 18. Mix it up, break the rules and win!

time out

Had a little time-out with the family this past week: visiting relatives and friends, paying respects to the dearly departed, asking for forgiveness and celebrating our blessings. Included was a much worrying consumption of carbs at these visits even though I tried portion control. Got sabotaged by the dessert platter. Time to make friends with the gym again.

What's hot on the market right now? The Siwy Sophie Skinny Jean with mesh panels in jet onyx. Beautiful, it even comes in blue denim with solid black panels. But that's not all. Siwy is supplying a gorgeous array of denim and leggings for Fall in unique prints and liquid finishes along with the occasional sequin pair thrown in the mix. Check out the rest of the collection here.

supernova

"The girl is a little beat up, a little kind of grunge — she’s not perfect," Lazaro Hernandez tells The Cut. Animal prints run amok in novel, bold colors. Cocktail numbers in heavy embellishments. Short, sexy silhouettes. This is as close to perfection as it gets. Proenza Schouler Spring 2010.

fabulace

Seems like Lady Gaga, Amber Rose, and Rihanna are competing on the sickest eyewear in town. After donning the "Barracuda" in Jay-Z's Run This Town video, Rihanna goes a little romantic-goth in these stunning "Sioux" lace shades, also by A-Morir during New York Fashion Week. More subtle than the edgy Barracuda's, but still fierce. Fancy one? Get yours here.

disco pop

Green suede shoes if you're feeling frisky. Or dance all night long with the disco wedge. Bruno Frisoni Fall 2009 collection. Those platforms are a killer!

walk back in time

Luxury brand MCM may have planned a comeback with Joy Gryson for a collaborative line, MCM New York, but one should never forget the classics. These white vintage babies make solid travel sidekicks and are so fresh to death, the classic LV monograms would look so ordinary. Available at Fruition LV, a hot Vegas commodity that stocks vivid, palpable archive of history's most innovative and distinct street fashion labels like Ambush, Ghita, and Jeremy Scott.

striking posh

Victoria Beckham dishes about her life in the States, her views on fashion and her obsession with Gossip Girl in the October issue of Elle US. Say what you will about her Birkin collection or her fashion sense, you know she can work it. Don't hate, girlfriend!

opulent finish

Among other things that I'm currently lusting after is this luscious YSL "Arty" oval ring. Available in turquoise, coral, and electric blue, having one in each color would be too sweet.

life would be much more entertaining if there were...

Drive-in movies and more hours in a day.

back to basics

Perfect on its own or under a boyfriend blazer, these statement t-shirts from styleforstyleshop are hot! I personally like the "Idols", six names that shook the fashion world. Kinda like The Beatles one, only 10 times better.

sense & sensibility

One of my favorite collection for New York Fashion Week has to be Preen. Thornton and Bregazzi brought their Londoner sensibilities for Spring 2010 collection that was both romantic and refined. Sheer cutouts, hints of lace and gorgeous embellishments (where fabrics were knotted, crumpled and twisted in the upmost Preen way) paved the way in spot on colors.

a single man

We've heard it before. The former Gucci god simply wanted to make movies. Tom Ford made his directorial debut at the Venice film festival Friday, joining the fray for the coveted Golden Lion with his much anticipated film, "A Single Man". Starring Colin Firth, Julianne Moore and Matthew Goode, the film is a movie adaptation of Christopher Isherwood's 1964 novel, about a college professor struggling with the death of his long-time partner. The Times UK called it "a thing of heart-stopping beauty" and based on the trailer, I couldn't agree more.

the bionic man bridges the gap

Soon you're going to see a lot of people rocking white on whites. Gap is celebrating their 40th anniversary with an overseas pop-up shop on London's Carnaby Street and Pharrell WIlliams is on everyone's lips. The all-around creative musician has collaborated with the quintessential American brand for an eco-friendly capsule collection that includes a t-shirt, duffle bag, hoodies, khakis, and sneakers, all in solid white colorway. Word is, the fabric used for this hot produce (developed from recycled plastic bottles) is coming straight from his Bionic Yarn.

The Gap1969 concept store will also feature limited edition collaborations in the form of Pierre Hardy boots, Albertus Swanepoel accessories as well as original artwork by Parisian fashion illustrator and photographer Garance Dore.

Something to fool your mothers with if they get all skeptical when dressed in skulls. Alexander McQueen's silver-tone Pyramid poison ring would do the trick and solidify your rock-chic credentials. Available for $275 here.

Inspired by classic American sportswear, Alexander Wang's highly awaited Spring 2010 collection was a huge surprise. Expect sports-centric pieces like zippered "wrestling" boots and quilted leather shorts fit for the boxing ring. Team Wang has gone varsity sexy!

Love at first sight. Acne's "Atacoma" leather and silver wedge platforms. Alexa Chung rocked these sick shoes on her show.

the kick off

What recession? New York Fashion Week has more than sixty designers queueing up to show their new collections. BCBG Max Azria kicks off day one with a plethora of dresses both long and short, in bold prints and striking hues. These are my favorite picks, check out the video for a glimpse of the runway.
